This is a very hurredly-taken photo from my cell phone. I’m even standing in my own light, I know. I just wanted to document these things before I ran out the door to make sure Husband didn’t forget them.

Husband is primarily a delivery driver for his employer. (Silk-screeners in the Midwest, pay ye heed.) A couple times in recent weeks he mentioned that he gave part of his lunch, or a ride, or a couple dollars, to a homeless man he came across during the day. (Not coincidentally it’s always the carrots he gives away. They just get bigger …)

So I had this idea to put together lunch bags for those guys too. Each one of the four brown paper bags in that pic contains: one ramen cup (assuming they can get hot water from any gas station with a coffee machine), one pack of granola bars, one bag of peanuts, one pack of four single-use disposable toothbrushes, one package of kleenex, a set of gloves, a winter hat, and a package of two hand-warmers. I thought about putting a Luke or John in them, but didn’t have time to try to find those. Next time.

Just an idea to throw out there. Know anyone who drives a lot? Make some bags for him/her to keep in the truck. Headed into the city for something? Bring one or two with you. The gloves, hat and hand-warmers are $1 each at Jewel right now. I think each bag cost us just over $5 total. So do-able.
