Catalyst is an annual conference that I always hear a ton about as it revs up and explodes. From their website:
The core vision of Catalyst has always been to impact the next generation. By creating “change agents” throughout the church that possess wisdom and understanding, the opportunity is created to usher in the necessary adjustments to an ever-evolving church.
At one point during the days of the event, a young man whose life was turned around by Compassion International met his sponsor for the first time. Twitter blew up, so I assumed it was a powerful moment. This morning I finally saw the video, and realized I completely underestimated what happened.
There’s a spot for another program at the beginning, Compassion starts at the two-minute mark. Watch from 2:00, it’s amazing.
You can go here to sponsor a(nother) child. $38/month is hardly more than $1/day.
Husband and I sponsor a little boy named Sreemonta in India. He just turned nine this month, and when I pray for him I can’t help but be overwhelmed at how blessed I am that God would set us up to be able to do this.
Wow! Easy to underestimate the power of that one – You said it, I heard it – I shoulda had the tissues handy…
Our childs name is Nayda and she lives in Bolivia. We started sponsoring her about 4 years ago. About the time we started sponsoring her, our girls wanted to raise more $ for Compassion. They and several of their friends put on two concerts – one in ’05 & one in ’06. Both concerts together brought in about $1200 for Compassion Int’l. It is an organization dear to us. This organization is amazing and the impact on the individuals they serve is great.
Right? I watched it twice and got teary both times.
